Literature Appreciation : 4th Review

In this occasion, thanks to God because I can write again in my blog. After I am getting a sick and now, my mind can be functioned well again :-D

This is about a film "Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck"

“Cinta tak sampai, dibalas dengan kejayaan hidup”

"Cinta bukan mengajarkan kita untuk jadi lemah, sebaliknya ia membangkitkan kekuatan. Cinta bukan melemahkan semangat, tetapi membangkitkan semangat" 

This film include in romantic drama launched in 2013. The film director is Sunil Soraya and the producer is Ram Soraya. There are 4 main actors; Herjunot Ali (Zainuddin), Pevita Pearce (Hayati), Reza Rahadian (Aziz), and Randy Nidji (Muluk). It adapted from the popular novel written by Haji Abdul Malik Karim Abdullah. We know him by the nick name Buya Hamka. He also the writer of  "Di bawah lindungan Ka'bah".

It will be the most expensive film ever produced by Soraya Intercine Film. Based on Wikipedia, Sunil Soraya says the causes of why this film is the most expensive are they have to make the properties like in 1930-s story. Of course, the stuffs is an antique thing. As we know the antique things have an expensive price.  The production time of this film is about 5 years. Furthermore, the tools to produce this film should can take the best quality of picture.

This story about the relationship between Zainuddin and Hayati. They have a different culture because Zainuddin from Minang-Bugis generation and Hayati from Minang generation. In the first time, he only has the aim to go to Batipuh to make a good relationship with his father neighbor and he want to learn religious knowledge. He feels lonely and share what he feel to Hayati. By the time, they love each other.

One day, he has to go to Padang Panjang by request from the leader of ethnic group and citizen around.

In other side, there is Aziz who loves Hayati. He from Minang generation like Hayati. He is very popular in Minang by his parents though he has a bad attitude.

Zainuddin depressed because he know that hayati will be marriage with Aziz.

       

Then, Zainuddin comes to Java island with his friend namely Muluk. The aims are to forget Hayati and get the better of life. Actually, he is a good writer. One day, there is a publisher of magazine want to publish his written until He became a success man and has a better of life.

In fact, Aziz and Hayati also move to Surabaya because his work. They have a worse of life.  He has discharged and have a lot of debt. 

One time, they met with Zainuddin. Aziz ask to him to pay his debt. Because zainuddin is a good man he want to accept this. However he cannot pay fully the debt to Zainuddin.

For a while they life together in Zainuddin house.
After that, aziz permit to entrust Hayati in a longer time but He has not come back and suicide because he feel guilty.

In the end, Zainuddin hear that and want to Hayati back to her hometown by Van Der Wijck ship. In the middle of the trip the ship was sink.

Before this event, actually Hayati says that she still love him. He feels repent because he let her go. However, Zainuddin still try to fight in his life although anything happen.

        Film ini mengisahkan tentang cinta yang tak sampai disebabkan oleh perbadaan adat istiadat dan tidak direstui oleh orang tua, yang mana kisah ini juga terdapat di dalam film yang penulisnya sama yaitu Buya Hamka yang berjudul "Di Bawah Lindungan Ka'bah". Kedua film tersebut sama-sama bergenre romantisme, bahkan latarnya pun hampir sama yaitu perkampungan di daerah Minangkabau. Latar waktunya pun juga tidak beda jauh yaitu antara 1920-an dengan 1930-an.

        Dari paparan tadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa film ini mengisahkan tentang cinta terlarang yang dialami oleh kedua orang yang saling jatuh cinta akibat adanya perbedaan adat istiadat yang dimiliki mereka berdua. Film ini merupakan film hasil adaptasi sebuah novel yang berjudul sama karangan Buya Hamka. Latar yang diambil yaitu pada tahun 1930-an di kawasan Padang, Sumatera Barat. Film ini memiliki banyak kelebihan, seperti misalnya setting tempat dan suasana, benar-benar mirip di tahun 1930an dengan dihiasi barang-barang antik. Jadi, film ini merupakan film yang sudah mendekati sempurna.
