Menuju “Pulang” (Tugas Review ke-11)

Kita cukup mengalahkan diri sendiri.

"A DESCENT INTO THE MAELSTORM"
Essentially this is one man telling his terrifying story of being on a ship when a hurricane comes along and pushes the ship towards a whirlpool and how he became the lone survivor of the shipwreck. The horror in this story is all courtesy of Mother Nature. The author's description of being in the midst of the ocean was vivid, I could feel the terror. Interestingly, salvation is found by observing the natural phenomena around him and determining what would give him a greater chance of surviving the maelstrom
this is one of my favourite Poe story. Great adventure story with vivid descriptions and use of resources to (Isaac Newton, etc) to ensure accuracy of the story. Incorporates science very well. Some sources have even listed this as a Science Fiction story. Not truly a Sci-Fi story but clever use of science.

Are you Indonesian?? you have to watching this film.

The film’s title: Habibie & Ainun
Genre: Romantic
Director: Hanung Bramantyo
Production: MD Entertainment
Cast: Reza Rahardian (BJ. Habibie), BCL (Ainun Habibie), Tio Pakusadewo (Soeharto)
Indonesian film industry finally awakened to offer quality movies. After a long time the people of Indonesia are served with horror film with semi-pornographic scenes. Film Habibie & Ainun produced by renowned director Hanung Bramantyo. This film is an adaptation of a novel by Mr. BJ. Habibie personal story about his life journey with his love Mrs. Ainun. The novel he wrote after the death of Alm. Ainun Habibie, as a mark of his very deep love for his wife.
The film told about a leader and Indonesian intellect, Mr. BJ Habibie who tried to build up the nation. The film also tried to unite the romance between a marriage couple in a family with a bandage of nationalism spirit. The love story between Habibie and Ainun provided valuable lesson for all Indonesian society. The loyalty and sacrifice they gave to the nation offered a lot of lessons for us to continue their struggle.

Their conflict and struggle to developed the nation presented in this film is able to make the audience cry, even the former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his wife, Ani Yudhoyono shed tears when watching it for the first time.
The biography of BJ Habibie and Ainun Habibie are elegantly presented. His science and ambition to create Indonesia Aircraft are the positive values and encourage us to be his successor.
Unfortunately, this beautiful story of this film is a little tarnished by the unprofessional product ads. It is very disappointed advertisement. Although it is only a few seconds, but it still disturbs the story.
Finally, for those who have a high spirit of nationalism and love romance must watch this film which is one of the best film ever created by the Indonesian.

"The Ugly Duckling"

this short story talk about an ugly duckling. An ugly duckling spends an unhappy year ostracized by the other animals before he grows into a beautiful swan.
It's a wonderful story about Self-acceptance,The Difference and how it does not necessarily mean a bad thing!
The Ugly Duckling is a classic story apt to impart lessons on morality to children.
This is a story about a baby duck that is born out of a huge egg and looks 'ugly'. In few words, the author presents the reaction of its mother who conditioned to appreciate beauty than character is ashamed to accept it. Though, she attempts to protect the duckling but succumbs to constant critical remarks made by the community. The frustrations of a parent over inability to shield the duckling against the social loathing and the shame associated with the ‘ugly’ part of oneself were easy to read between the lines. The duckling moves away from the community, travels distant places, survives all the torments and struggles to find where he belongs. Finally, one day out of shame it looks down in the lake water and finds a beautiful white swan. It is this reflection that fills its heart with happiness. The story ends with two morals: ‘To savor happiness one needs to go through hardships’ and ‘No matter what your past is, your present defines you and determines your future’.

In the entire book, the word ‘ugly’ appeared rather strongly for me. The definitive nature of ‘ugly’ changes when it is used as a ‘Label’. Once labeled, a person is persecuted, detested and constantly reminded of one’s deficits in such a way that the identity of a person solidifies as one of ‘handicap’; becoming a ‘self’ ruptured beyond repair. I would recommend that if you read this story to your little ones, do not just focus on imparting the above mentions lessons from the book, but also impart sensitivity to and appreciation of ‘the differences’ that exist in this world.

A story is an instrument that indulges the reader into a world of fantasy thereby granting insight into the roots of the real problems. This is true for any fiction, but fables, stories and tales are unique owing to their simplicity and because they go beyond the limits of societies, cultures and time periods. For me, reading this book was therapeutic. The other component of the book is the illustrations, which were serene and can add a flavor to reading for children. I recommend this book to both kids and adults alike.
